Ghana December 2023 - March 2024
Day 8
Farming. I felt much better this am and was up and ready to go to the farm at 8am.
My hat goes off to every woman African farmer because this was the hardest work of my life and all I did was walk. Y’all I walked less than everyone and was the most tired. They just looked at me and shook their heads and agreed that I was weak lmbo, but smh. Today the harvest was palm nuts. While we were there we are some cocoa and some fresh oranges. I had never seen cocoa in its original form. It looks totally not like cocoa. It tastes sweet. The cocoa comes from the nut that is ground up. Daily the farmers go to their farm and work, and bring back something to eat for the day and firewood. Even the lil kids go when they aren’t in school. Man I was so hot, I had on them boots, i had to keep sittin down. Then they gave me a stick to walk with like I was a elder. I rolled my eyes…..but I took the stick tho lol. The nicest part is that on the land there is tons of bamboo and HUGE bamboo trees near the river. I took pics and video but I don’t think I did it Justice, you kinda had to be there. They believe that the river is guarded by a Nana Kakum, a God there. So I asked for permission to be there and to sit. Permission was granted. We got some kool water from the river and drank it. It was refreshingly kool and clean and actually tasted better than my bottled water. I’d go back to the farm just to get to that spot again. Once we came back I had some real coconut water from the coconut. Another first for me, I drink coconut water in the states but not like this. Now I’m about to go to sleep for 6 hours lol…on God tho. Talk to y’all soon
