Day 2

Yea so I legit woke up to a rooster, LOL. That and the call of prayer, which was absolutely amazing . In the village where I am there is a Muslim community and today I woke up to the call of prayer. Afterwards I had some authentic lemongrass tea, and by lemongrass tea I don’t mean the bags, I mean Auntie went and got it fresh out of the garden and prepared it for me. I had that and some fresh watermelon. I feel so organic, lol. And listen, they get up EARLY here and STAY UP. I laid back down to rest and they thought something was wrong with me . They were up going to their farms, taking kids to school, whatever they were doing, but they were UP. Talkin bout “this is Africa”…..baby I am definitely African in mind, spirit and blood but my body is on Eastern Standard time

While it’s on the front of my brain I just want to let you know to go ahead and get the international calling plan if your phone carrier offers it. Bcuz If you’re frugal af like me, you’ll be hurtin with MetroPCS. Yes I bought my iPhone and went to MetroPCS …but yall, you can’t beat $40 monthly, however; they don’t even offer an international plan . You can use wifi for services like WhatsApp or FB Messenger. If you have an iPhone you can do iMessage or you can get a phone here but you still need a SIM card, and for that a local person will have to get one for you. They aren’t expensive at all, you just can’t get one yourself because you have to register it with your Ghana card. My folks got me straight tho

And last thing…I took my “bath” this morning (that’s what they call it, but you’re standing not sitting) a bath consists of a large bucket holding your water and a little bucket to dip into the big bucket of water and pour it on yourself…and the water is cold, cool at best…not hot..not lukewarm….yeah it’s real in tha field….IM AUTHENTIC GHANAIAN NOW
